  Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, for 78th Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention. Philcon is hosted by The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society.

• The Beloit Fiction Journal announces the Hamlin Garland Award for the Short Story. Deadline 1 December
• Women of the World Poetry Slam will be held in March, but participants need to plan now. December 14, 2015 - Registration opens to Certified Venues & Previous Year’s Champion
  January 1, 2016 - Registration opens to Registered Venues & Storm Poets
  registration. Festival is March 9 – 12 2016.
  
• Women's National Book Association accepting contest entries in fiction, non-fiction and poetry categories for its 4th annual awards. Deadline 15 January.
• Advance registration (lower rates) is on now for February's 13th Annual San Francisco Writers Conference, February 11 - 14 2016 at the Mark Hopkins Hotel.
